Fire broke out at Bharat Bijlee’s electric motor storage area at the company's Airoli Works at Navi Mumbai. The fire broke out on June 09, 2012 evening. The fire was contained within the said area and no casualties were reported.

The estimated cost of the damages is being ascertained. The plant assets are adequately covered by insurance. Further, there was no major disruption in operation due to the fire and the same are continuing normally.

Bharat Bijlee is a multi-product, multi-division company. It runs two business divisions i.e. Industrial Products- includes transformers, motors and drives; and Contracting i.e. Projects. The company started its operation by manufacturing electric motors.
