Tata Power Company’s Trombay team has been honoured with the Environment Excellence Award by Mission Energy Foundation. The award was presented in recognition of the team’s efforts in meeting the new environmental norms for sulphur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions.
Tata Power’s Trombay Thermal Power Plant has installed sea water-based Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) unit for SO2 control, low NOx burners, over-fire dampers for NOx control high-efficiency Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) for particulate emissions control and uses low sulphur, low ash and high moisture imported coal of Indonesian origin for effectively controlling the emissions.
