Tata Power in dark over deferring operations of all new coal-based plants

Failure to get clearances from regulatory authorities in India and abroad, the country’s largest integrated private power utility - Tata Power has deferred all the new imported-coal based projects. The move will affect the company to fulfill its aim of increase generating capacity by 5-fold till 2017. The power generating company has sought for more clarity on regulatory environment in India and coal exporting nations and it will continue to defer the 2,400 MW project in Maharashtra until then.

Tata Power Company is currently trading at Rs. 91.80, down by 0.35 points or 0.38% from its previous closing of Rs. 92.15 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 92.25 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 93.05 and Rs. 91.70 respectively. So far 83561 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 133.00 on 05-Jul-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 80.65 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 98.50 and Rs. 91.05 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 21784.80 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.81% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.43% and 16.53% respectively.
