Power Grid planning to raise Rs 3,000 crore through masala bonds

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) is planning to raise around Rs 3,000 crore through masala bonds. The company has already approached the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the same. Masala bonds are bonds issued outside India but denominated in Indian Rupees, rather than the local currency.

The company has set a capex target of Rs 25,000 crore for this financial year. During the quarter, the company added about 2,260 ckm of transmission lines, four substations and aggregate transformation capacity of 17,500 MVA.

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) is an Indian state-owned electric utilities company headquartered in Gurgaon, India. Power Grid transmits about 50% of the total power generated in India on its transmission network.
