GAIL is reportedly renegotiating its liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchase deals with United States -based Cheniere Energy and Dominion Cove Point. Indian gas firm has signed contracts for sourcing up to 5.8 million tonnes of LNG from the United States.
India has in the past renegotiated LNG deals with Qatar’s RasGas and Exxon Mobil Corp as spot prices have declined substantially amid a supply glut.
GAIL (India) is India’s principal Natural Gas Company with activities ranging from Gas Transmission and Marketing to Processing (for fractionating LPG, Propane, SBP Solvent and Pentane); transmission of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG); production and marketing of Petrochemicals like HDPE and LLDPE and leasing bandwidth in Telecommunications.
