Tata Motors has entered into development and supply agreement with Canada-based Westport Fuel Systems Inc to source Bharat Stage VI type engines for its CNG-fired range of trucks and buses in order to meet the Indian Government’s new Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) emission standards, scheduled to take effect in April 2020.
BS-VI standards, which are equivalent to Euro-VI standards, are two steps ahead of the BS-IV standards currently in effect due to a heightened concern on India’s air quality levels.
Tata Motors is India’s largest automobile company. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia. Among them is Jaguar Land Rover, the business comprising the two iconic British brands.
