Tata Metaliks to shut down MBF No 2 for a period of 60 days

Tata Metaliks has decided to shut down its mini blast furnace (MBF) No 2 for a period of 60 days with effect from June 25, 2012. The company has taken this step due to relining and expansion of working volume.

Recently, the company had terminated the business transfer agreement with Fomento (Karnataka) Mining Company by mutual consent on March 30, 2012.

Tata Metaliks was set up as a joint venture between Tata Steel and WBIDC (West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation) to manufacture pig iron at its plant at Kharagpur, West Bengal. It has two plants at present, one located at Kharagpur (West Bengal) and the other at Redi (Maharashtra).
