Hindustan Zinc to set-up two new mills in Rajasthan with a joint capacity of 3 million tonnes (MT) of ore-treatment with an investment of Rs 600 crore.
After setting-up of the new mills, the treatment capacity will increase to 17.5 MT from the current 14.5 MT per annum. The company is aiming to take its zinc production to 1.5 MT in the next five years, moving towards a fully under-ground mining company by FY2019.
Hindustan Zinc, the world’s second biggest zinc producer, operates the world’s third largest open-pit mine, and world’s largest Zinc Mine in Rampura Agucha, Rajasthan.
