NTPC, Kerala State Electricity Board ink MoU for increasing solar power generation

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for increasing solar power generation in the state. The MoU also includes an agreement to set up a 15 MW solar power unit at the NTPC complex in Kayamkulam.

Besides this, the possibility of setting up solar plants at reservoirs, open space and top of buildings also would be explored.  The power generated would be given to KSEB at a rate fixed by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission. The state is expected to make good strides in solar power generation with the MoU becoming operational.

NTPC is the largest power utility company in India and has presence in Coal, Gas, Solar PV, Hydro and Wind Power Generation and Coal Mining.
