NLC India has reportedly established the generic medicine outlet on its hospital premises in a bid to sell generic drugs that are available at lower prices and are equally efficient as the expensive branded drugs. The outlet aims to reduce the company’s increasing drug expenses while providing therapeutic benefit to the patients. This is a part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi scheme.
The company had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI) and Union ministry of chemicals and fertilizers to establish the outlet.
NLC India is engaged in the business of lignite mining and power generation. At present, the company has four opencast lignite mines.
