Asian markets trade lower in early deals on Wednesday

All of the Asian markets are trading lower in early deals on Wednesday after the Trump administration said it was preparing to impose tariffs on another $200 billion of Chinese exports, upping the ante in the trade war between the world's two largest economies. Japan’s Nikkei dropped after the United States said it would impose tariffs on an additional $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, hurting shippers and machinery makers in particular. Meanwhile, Hong Kong stocks are set for the biggest fall in over three months, led by declines in banks and insurers, after US fires up China trade war with more tariffs.

Nikkei 225 declined 223.38 points or 1.02% to 21,973.51, Hang Seng dropped 412.53 points or 1.46% to 28,269.72, Taiwan Weighted slipped 81.76 points or 0.77% to 10,675.13, KOSPI Index contracted 11.99 points or 0.53% to 2,282.17, Shanghai Composite crumbled 52.85 points or 1.90% to 2,774.78, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI tumbled 2.89 points or 0.17% to 1,684.24, Jakarta Composite decreased 26.30 points or 0.45% to 5,855.46, and Straits Times down by 27.25 points or 0.84% to 3,247.58.
