Most of the Asian markets are trading higher in early deals on Friday, following the overnight rebound on Wall Street as investors shifted focus to the upcoming corporate earnings season amid a lack of escalation in US-China trade tensions. Meanwhile, Japan’s Nikkei surged to 2-1/2-week highs, helped by a weaker yen and gains from index-heavy stock Fast Retailing after it jumped on the back of strong third-quarter results. Among the other Asian markets, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore are higher. Bucking the trend, Shanghai is lower.

Nikkei 225 rose 475.40 points or 2.10% to 22,663.36, Hang Seng jumped 164.87 points or 0.58% to 28,645.70, Jakarta Composite gained 39.64 points or 0.67% to 5,947.51, Taiwan Weighted added 95.18 points or 0.88% to 10,833.56, KOSPI Index spurt 24.31 points or 1.05% to 2,309.37, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI increased 11.16 points or 0.66% to 1,714.73, and Straits Times up by 8.27 points or 0.25% to 3,261.28.

On the flip side, Shanghai Composite was down by 3.27 points or 0.12% to 2,834.39.
