GAIL India has launched the commencement of work for India’s first coal gasification based fertilizer plant with pet coke blending, marking a significant milestone towards achieving the Government of India’s vision of making the country self-sufficient in the production of fertilizers through the revival of closed plants.
The fertilizer plant is being developed by Talcher Fertilizers (TFL), a joint venture (JV) company of GAIL (India), Coal India (CIL), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCFL) and Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCIL), at an estimated investment of Rs 13,000 crore.
GAIL India is India’s principal Natural Gas Company with activities ranging from Gas Transmission and Marketing to Processing (for fractionating LPG, Propane, SBP Solvent and Pentane); transmission of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG); production and marketing of Petrochemicals like HDPE and LLDPE and leasing bandwidth in Telecommunications.
