Gail India shines on reporting 15% rise in Q1 net profit

Gail India is currently trading at Rs. 356.40, up by 0.30 points or 0.08% from its previous closing of Rs. 356.10 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 358.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 359.05 and Rs. 354.35 respectively. So far 8,742 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 475.35 on 04-Aug-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 303.10 on 18-May-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 359.05 and Rs. 340.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 45,208 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 57.34% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 38.53% and 3.28% respectively.

On standalone basis, the company has posted a rise of 15.14% in its net profit at Rs 1133.78 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2012 as compared to Rs 984.67 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income has increased by 25.01% to Rs 11,112.00 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 8889.00 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011.

GAIL (India) is the largest natural gas transmission company in India, with interests in transmission, distribution, processing, and downstream petrochemicals. GAIL operates over 8,600 kilometres of natural gas pipeline, accounting for approximately 74% of all gas transmitted in India.
