GAIL planning to invest Rs 5,000 crore in West Bengal pipelines

GAIL India is planning to invest an additional Rs 5,000 crore for the construction of pipelines to supply natural gas and CNG in West Bengal in the next five to six years. The project is being executed as a part of Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Pipeline Project. A 555-km-long pipeline will pass through eight districts in the state, such as Purulia, Bankura, Burdwan, Nadia, Hooghly, Howrah, East Midnapore and North 24-Parganas.  

GAIL India is India’s principal Natural Gas Company with activities ranging from Gas Transmission and Marketing to Processing (for fractionating LPG, Propane, SBP Solvent and Pentane); transmission of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG); production and marketing of Petrochemicals like HDPE and LLDPE and leasing bandwidth in Telecommunications.
