Bombay Burmah gets nod to sell its Sunmica division

Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation’s board has agreed to sell its Sunmica division engaged in the business of manufacturing and marketing Decoratives and Industrial Laminates and located at Rudrapur to AICA Laminates India, a subsidiary of AICA Kogyo, Japan as a going concern on slump sale basis for a lumpsum consideration of Rs 100.30 crore and a Business Transfer Agreement to this effect has been signed between the parties on August 10, 2011.

The decision to sell Sunmica Division is in line with restructuring plan to focus on core business and divest low return businesses.

AICA Kogyo, Japan, is one of the leading listed Japanese companies engaged in Laminate business besides adhesives and other building products.

Bombay Burman Corporation is in the business of teak and has diversified its interests in Tea, Coffee, Dental Products and Formica Laminates. The company is also engaged in other businesses like laminate products, dental products, springs, ophthalmic products, weighing products, orthopaedic products and auto electrical components.
