Auto stocks fall as passenger vehicle sales drop 1.87% in January

Domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales declined 1.87 per cent to 2,80,125 units in January from 2,85,467 units in the same month last year.

Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs. 149.00, down by 33.90 points or 18.53% from its previous closing of Rs. 182.90 on the BSE.The scrip opened at Rs. 164.65 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 164.65 and Rs. 141.90 respectively. So far 5774902 shares were traded on the counter.

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 86.25, down by 1.35 points or 1.54% from its previous closing of Rs. 87.60 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 88.05 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 88.35 and Rs. 85.65 respectively. So far 720563 shares were traded on the counter.

Escorts is currently trading at Rs. 661.95, down by 22.15 points or 3.24 % from its previous closing of Rs. 684.10 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 682.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 682.00 and Rs. 654.55 respectively. So far 55829 shares were traded on the counter.

Domestic car sales were also down 2.65 per cent to 1,79,389 units as compared to 184,264 units in January 2018, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
