Auto stocks fall as passenger vehicle sales drop 1.11% in February

Auto stocks fall as Domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales declined 1.11 percent to 2,72, 284 units in February from 2,75,346 units in the same month previous year.

Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs. 181.85, down by 7.35 points or 3.88% from its previous closing of Rs. 189.20 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 188.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 188.30 and Rs. 181.85 respectively. So far 1519835 shares were traded on the counter.

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 89.65, down by 1.10 points or 1.21% from its previous closing of Rs. 90.75 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 90.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 91.00 and Rs. 89.30 respectively. So far 1525241 shares were traded on the counter.

Escorts is currently trading at Rs. 729.40, down by 5.70 points or 0.78% from its previous closing of Rs. 735.10 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 735.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 735.35 and Rs. 723.70 respectively. So far 45207 shares were traded on the counter.

Domestic car sales were also down 4.33 percent at 1,71,372 units as compared to 1,79,122 units in February 2018, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
