Reliance Power surges on reporting rise in consolidated Q1 net profit

Reliance Power is currently trading at Rs 91.60, up by 0.70 points or 0.77% from its previous closing of Rs 90.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 90.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs 92.50 and Rs 89.40 respectively. So far 11,74,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 191.00 on 11-Nov-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 89.60 on 11-Aug-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 106.90 and Rs 89.60 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 25498.60 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 80.42% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 6.57% and 12.99% respectively.

Reliance Power has reported unaudited results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2011.

The company’s net profit after tax and appropriation for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 fell by 56.49% at Rs 64.63 crore as compared to Rs 148.55 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Its total income decreased 43.65% at Rs 119.50 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 212.08 crore for the same quarter last year.

On consolidated basis, the Group has posted a marginal rise of 0.36% in its net profit after tax at Rs 196.12 crore as compared to Rs 195.41 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010. Its total Income has increased by 71.80% at Rs 689.23 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 401.19 crore for the similar quarter of the previous year.

Reliance Power is part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group and is established to develop, construct and operate power projects domestically and internationally.
