Asian equity benchmarks are trading mixed in the early deals on Tuesday, despite positive cues from Wall Street. Investors went cautious amid impending US Central Bank's monetary policy decision and on report that China’s manufacturing activity grew less than expected in April. South Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics reported weak first-quarter earnings results, also weighed on sentiment. The Japanese market is closed for the Golden Week holidays. Among the other Asian markets, Indonesia, Taiwan, Shanghai and Malaysia are trading in green. However, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea are in negative territory.
Jakarta Composite rises 21.42 points or 0.33% to 6,447.32, Taiwan Weighted jumps 2.11 points or 0.02% to 10,941.17, Shanghai Composite up by 13.24 points or 0.43% to 3,075.74, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI dips by 3.59 points or 0.22% 1,640.99.
On the flip side, Hang Seng down 144.05 points or 0.48% to 29,748.76, Straits Times dips 12.72 points or 0.37% to 3,394.30, and KOSPI Shares increases 11.24 points or 0.51% to 2,205.19.
