Sesa Goa has successfully completed the expansion of its metallurgical coke capacity from 0.28 mtpa to 0.56 mtpa along with the 30 MW waste heat recovery power plant.
Besides, the company has successful commissioned its third blast furnace of 450 cubic meter capacity with the hot metal production commencing from August 17, 2012. With this commissioning, the company’s pig iron plant has become the largest producer of low phosphorous pig iron in India with an installed capacity of 0.625 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) which is increased from earlier capacity of 0.250 mtpa.
Moreover, the commissioning of the associated sinter plant of 0.8 mtpa capacity is also progressing as planned in line for commissioning in the current quarter.
