Jaiprakash Power Ventures surges on reporting 81% surge in Q1 net profit

Jaiprakash Power Ventures is currently trading at Rs. 38.55, up by 0.40 points or 1.05% from its previous closing of Rs. 38.15 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 39.35 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 39.70 and Rs. 38.55 respectively. So far 42,811 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 70.00 on 06-Oct-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs. 35.10 on 09-Aug-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 39.75 and Rs. 35.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 7995.02 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 86.96% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 5.66% and 7.38% respectively. 

Jaiprakash Power Ventures has reported unaudited results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2011.

The company’s net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 surged by 80.91% at Rs 69.56 crore as compared to Rs 38.45 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Its total income increased 36.61% at Rs 283.98 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 207.88 crore for the same quarter last year.

The above results under review are in respect of 300 MW Baspa II H.E. Project, 400 MW Vishnuprayag H.E. Project and 1000 MW Karcham Wangtoo H.E. Project. The corresponding figures in the previous year are only for 300 MW Baspa H.E. Project and 400 MW Vishnuprayag H.E. Project and hence not comparable.
