Tata Chemicals rises on introducing iodine plus iron fortified salt

Tata Chemicals is currently trading at Rs. 306.90, up by 2.00 points or 0.66% from its previous closing of Rs. 304.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 304.45 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 309.00 and Rs. 304.00 respectively. So far 7114 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 374.50 on 17-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 287.80 on 05-Oct-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 309.00 and Rs. 301.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 7828.66 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.06% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 44.31% and 24.63% respectively. 

Tata Chemicals has introduced the country's first iodine plus iron fortified salt in the western State, as the deficiency has been found in more than 55% women and 70% children, the primary cause of anaemia. The iron-fortified iodised salt has been developed by the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad.

The salt will be priced at Rs 20 a kg, it marks the entry of iron-fortified iodized salt in Gujarat, after a 20-year research journey on double fortification technology and premix led by the NIN. This technology was offered to Tata Chemicals under a long-term MoU after due studies on bio-availability across the population strata conducted and published by NIN.
