State-owned NTPC is seeking approval from Arunachal Pradesh government for its 9,750 MW hydel project at Siang in Arunachal Pradesh. The proposed Rs 1 lakh crore investment for the project is to be spread over 10 years or the construction time of the project. Around Rs 10 crore is incurred for producing one megawatt of hydro power.
Meanwhile, the state government is asking for a payment of about Rs 4,00,000 per megawatt from the company before starting work on the project.
At present, NTPC has a installed capacity of 39,174 MW through 16 coal based, seven gas and seven Joint Venture power stations spread across the country. With over 16,000 MW capacity under construction, NTPC plans to become 1,28,000 MW company by the year 2032.
Further, the company is aiming to import 16 million tonne of coal in the current financial year (2012-13).
