NHPC gains on planning to begin construction of Lower Subansiri power plant in October

NHPC is currently trading at Rs. 23.30, up by 0.05 points or 0.22% from its previous closing of Rs. 23.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 23.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 23.35 and Rs. 23.15 respectively. So far 80231 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 27.50 on 14-Nov-2018 and a 52 week low of Rs. 20.85 on 02-Aug-2019.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 23.70 and Rs. 23.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 23354.71 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 73.33%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 16.54% and 10.13% respectively.

NHPC is planning to begin construction of the 2,000 MW Lower Subansiri power plant in October 2019 as it has received the requisite approval from the Assam government.

The company had inked a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Arunachal Pradesh for setting up the project in 2010. However, since the project falls in the territories of both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, the latter’s approval was needed as well.

NHPC is engaged in electric power generation by hydroelectric power plants. The company is also engaged in contracts, project management and consultancy works.
