NHPC has paid final dividend of Rs 552.45 crore to the central government for 2018-19. Interim dividend of Rs 526.53 crore for 2018-19 was paid in March 2019, aggregating total dividend of Rs 1,078.98 crore for 2018-19. Currently, the central government holds 73.11 per cent of the company's share paid-up capital.
NHPC is engaged in electric power generation by hydroelectric power plants. The company is also engaged in contracts, project management and consultancy works.
