Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower on Friday, as participants remained cautious amid uncertainty about a possible US-Chinese agreement to roll back tariffs in their trade conflicts. The two biggest global economies had raised tariffs on billions of dollars of each other's goods. That has disrupted supply chains, and threatening global economic growth. Japan's Nikkei is trading higher with softer the safe-haven yen following positive cues from Wall Street overnight. Among the Asian markets, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia are trading lower. However, Japan and Shanghai are in positive territory.

Straits Times down 26.04 points or 0.79% to 3,259.68, Hang Seng decreased 121.19 points or 0.44% to 27,726.04, Taiwan Weighted dipped 5.58 points or 0.05% to 11,600.98, KOSPI Index narrowed 4.61 points or 0.21% to 2,139.68, Jakarta Composite declined by 3.61 points or 0.06% to 6,162.01 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI diminished 0.78 points or 0.05% to 1,608.55.

On the flip side, Nikkei 225 up 38.17 points 0.16% to 23,368.49 and Shanghai rose 10.53 points 0.35% to 2,989.24.
