Jindal Steel & Power’s (JSPL) 1.80 MTPA DRI (direct reduced iron) plant based on coal gasification process has resumed operations in Odisha's Angul district. The plant was set up by the company to ensure the availability of chemical and thermal energy required to produce DRI at an affordable price to reduce the environmental impact of coal in the long run.
The DRI plant was not operational for long due to the scarcity of coal. Now Coal India and Mahanadi coalfields have started selling coal in adequate quantity, therefore gasification & DRI operations are resumed.
JSPL is one of India’s fastest growing and largest integrated steel manufacturers, significantly present in Steel, Power Generation and Infrastructure segments and catering to a large part of India's domestic energy and infrastructure requirement.
