Asian Paints trades lower as CCI orders probe against it

Asian Paints is currently trading at Rs. 1837.10, down by 4.65 points or 0.25% from its previous closing of Rs. 1841.75 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1838.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1845.00 and Rs. 1829.75 respectively. So far 9377 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1845.90 on 15-Jan-2020 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1291.45 on 09-Jul-2019.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1845.90 and Rs. 1760.35 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 176554.74 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 52.79%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 27.60% and 19.61% respectively.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered a probe against Asian Paints for allegedly hindering the entry of JSW Paints by virtue of its dominance in the market for manufacture and sale of decorative paints. The order came after JSW Paints filed a complaint alleging that Asian Paints threatened various dealers in Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu from dealing with JSW Paints.

Asian Paints is engaged in the business of manufacturing, selling and distribution of paints, coatings, products related to home decor, bath fittings and providing of related services. The Company's business segments are Paints and Home Improvement.
