Tata Motors’ wholly owned subsidiary -- Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is planning to cut 500 jobs at Halewood factory in Merseyside to optimise car production. The factory, which builds the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport in the north west of England, will move from a three shift to a two-plus shift pattern from April 2020.
This will deliver significant operating efficiencies at the plant, while enabling company to meet the growing customer demand for new Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport. This change in shift pattern affects around 10 percent of Halewood's workforce. Through its ongoing transformation programme, JLR is taking action to optimise performance, enable sustainable growth and safeguard the long-term success of its business.
Tata Motors is India’s largest automobile company. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia. Among them is Jaguar Land Rover, the business comprising the two iconic British brands.
