Van Gogh, an arm of Chrys Capital has offloaded about 4% stake in Shriram Group’s retail financing arm Shriram City Union Finance. The global private equity firm has sold 22,89,908 shares at Rs 750 per share valuing the transaction for Rs 171.74 crore in an open market deal. Of the total shares sold, Bank Muscat India Fund picked up 10,50,000 shares for Rs 78.75 crore.
Earlier in 2006, Chrys Capital had picked up 40,00,000 shares, or 10% stake in Shriram City Union for Rs 160 a share. It later increased its stake through open market purchases and warrant conversion and as of June, it had a 12.65% stake in the company.
Besides, ICICI Venture Fund A/C India Advantage Fund-VI sold 6.67 lakh shares of the company for Rs 49.9 crore, while Sundaram Mutual Fund Tax Saver Scheme bought 3.56 lakh shares for Rs 26.68 crore in a separate transaction on Bombay Stock Exchange.
