SpiceJet gains on launching dedicated freighter services for shrimp farmers

Spicejet is currently trading at Rs. 89.60, up by 2.00 points or 2.28% from its previous closing of Rs. 87.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 87.45 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 90.20 and Rs. 86.30 respectively. So far 360571 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 156.90 on 03-Jun-2019 and a 52 week low of Rs. 72.50 on 13-Mar-2019.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 94.25 and Rs. 86.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 5340.68 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 59.96%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 12.07% and 27.97% respectively.

SpiceJet has launched a dedicated freighter services from Chennai and Vishakhapatnam to Surat and Kolkata, in a boost for India’s shrimp farmers. The first flight was operated on February 25, 2020 from Chennai International Airport ferrying a consignment of shrimp produce to Vishakhapatnam and Surat.

SpiceXpress, the dedicated air cargo arm of SpiceJet, will deploy its Boeing 737 freighter on these routes with an approximate carrying capacity of 21 tonnes. With the launch of the new services, SpiceXpress will be the first to connect the aforesaid cities through a freighter route.

SpiceJet is among the first private companies that stepped into the Indian aviation sector.
