HDFC Bank plans to open 11 branches by October in Odisha

HDFC Bank, the leading private sector lender, is eyeing to expand its presence in the state of Odisha. The bank, which currently has 61 branches in 25 districts, is planning to open 11 more branches by October and add another 30 new branches by December, 2012, taking the total branches to 102 in the state.

The expansion drive is another step to speed up the process of financial inclusion, mainly in rural areas of Odisha state. Besides, with this the leading private sector bank would have branches in all the 30 districts of the state.

The bank has got 60% of its branches in rural and semi-urban areas and with opening of more branches in rural belts, more than 75% of the branches of the bank would be located in villages and semi-urban pockets.

The bank is lending to all sections of people in Odisha and is now mainly focusing on micro-financing and loans for the farm sector like crop loans in addition to deposit mobilization.
