In an effort to offset impact of adverse foreign exchange fluctuation and rising input costs, Country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday hiked its vehicle prices by Rs 2,400 to Rs 5,200 across its entire range. The company, controlled by Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp, sells a range of models starting with the M800 to the luxury sedan Kizashi, which are priced between Rs 2.04 lakh and Rs 17.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Further, the hike comes at a time when the company is gearing up for the upcoming festive season with the launch of all new Alto 800 next month. Moreover, the company is the recent to join the likes of Honda Motor Company and other major manufacturers in India in raising prices in recent weeks due to rising costs, despite a slowdown in the country's car market.

The company has reported a 9.84% surge in total sales for September at 93988 units as against 85565 units in the same month last year. The domestic sales of the company during the month stood at 88801 units, up by 12.7% compared to 78816 units in September last year. However, the company’s export declined by 23.1% during the month which stood at 5187 units as compared to 6749 units in September last year.
