Asian markets trade mostly higher in early deals on Thursday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading higher in early deals on Thursday, kindled by firm investor sentiments in line with the positive cues from Wall Street counting on hopes of a recovery from a coronavirus-driven economic slump. Moreover, investors eyed on European Central Bank's policy decision which is due later today Japan's Nikkei is extending its gains to fourth session in a row. Among the other Asian markets, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia are in positive territory. Bucking the trend, Hong Kong and China are trading in red.

Nikkei 225 up by 69.12 points, 0.31% to 22,682.88, Straits Times rose by 7.74 points or 0.29% to 2,708.13, Taiwan Weighted gained 58.32 points or 0.52% to 11,378.48, KOSPI Index enlarged by 4.06 points or 0.19% to 2,151.06, Jakarta Composite buoyed by 42.18 points or 0.85% to 4,983.19, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI widened by 12.20 points or 0.79% to 1,550.73.

On the flip side, Hang Seng dipped by 14.24 points or 0.06% to 24,311.38 and Shanghai lower 3.78 points or 0.13% to 2,919.59.
