Power Grid zooms as Ministry of Power advises it to set up subsidiary

Power Grid Corporation of India is currently trading at Rs. 165.55, up by 6.05 points or 3.79% from its previous closing of Rs. 159.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 160.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 166.05 and Rs. 159.80 respectively. So far 219734 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 216.20 on 01-Aug-2019 and a 52 week low of Rs. 129.75 on 18-Mar-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 168.90 and Rs. 158.50 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 86399.70 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 51.34 % while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 43.67 % and 4.99 % respectively.

Ministry of Power has advised Power Grid Corporation of India to set up a 100% Subsidiary with separate accounting and Board structure, which would be responsible for carrying out statutory functions, as identified for Central Transmission Utility (CTU) under the Electricity Act, 2003, and also other functions assigned to CTU by CERC. The aforementioned 100% subsidiary company (CTU) would be separated as a wholly owned Government of India company within 6 months or till the completion of formalities for creation of the aforementioned company.
