Asian markets trade lower in early deals on Thursday

Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower on Thursday, with the dampened worries about a quick recovery in global economy amid rising number of coronavirus infections around the globe. Florida and California both reported their single biggest daily increases in new cases of COVID-19. Stock markets of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are closed for a holiday. Japan's Nikkei slumped in tandem with the negative cues from Wall Street stocks, though safe haven yen contracted. Among the Asian markets, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea and Malaysia are trading lower.

Nikkei 225 down by 279.62 points or 1.24% to 22,254.70,  Straits Times slipped by 37.17 points or 1.41% to 2,591.45, KOSPI Index lower by 43.06 points or 1.99% to 2,118.45, Jakarta Composite narrowed by 49.98 points or 1.01% to 4,914.76 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI trimmed by 10.11 points or 0.67% to 1,492.52.
