Tata Metaliks has re-started its operation of mini blast furnace (MBF) No 2 from October 03, 2012. The company had earlier decided to shut down its MBF No 2 for a period of 60 days with effect from June 25, 2012. The company had taken this step due to relining and expansion of working volume.
Tata Metaliks was set up as a joint venture between Tata Steel and WBIDC (West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation) to manufacture pig iron at its plant at Kharagpur, West Bengal. It has two plants at present, one located at Kharagpur (West Bengal) and the other at Redi (Maharashtra).
