Asian markets trade mostly higher in early deals on Wednesday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading higher on Wednesday, lifted by the optimism followed by the news that Biotech firm Moderna’s affirmation that its experimental vaccine for COVID-19, mRNA-1273, showed it was safe and produced strong immune responses in all 45 patients in an ongoing early-stage human trial. Japan’s Nikkei enlarged counting on positive trend from US stocks overnight and as the investors eyed on the Bank of Japan's monetary policy decision due later today. Among the Asian markets, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and Indonesia are in positive trend. Bucking the trend, Hong Kong, China and Malaysia are trading down.

Nikkei 225 up by 352.34 points, 1.56% to 22,939.35, Straits Times rose by 26.46 points or 1.01% to 2,646.65, Taiwan Weighted lifted 10.04 points or 0.08% to 12,219.05, KOSPI Index buoyed by 16.60 points or 0.76% to 2,200.21 and Jakarta Composite enlarged by 5.96 points or 0.12% to 5,085.08.

On the flip side, Hang Seng down by 140.55 points or 0.55% to 25,337.34, Shanghai dipped 47.41 points or 1.39% to 3,367.21, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI lower by 4.50 points or 0.28% to 1,594.25.
