Central Depository Services (India) (CDSL) has crossed a new milestone of 2.5 crore active demat accounts. CDSL, which began its operations in 1999, reached the 1 crore active demat accounts in September, 2015, crossed the 2-crore mark in January, 2020 and crossed the 2.5 crore mark as on August 31, 2020. In the period of less than 5 years, CDSL has added 1.5 crore demat accounts.
CDSL was set up with the objective of providing convenient, dependable and secure depository services at affordable cost to all market participants.
