Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Thursday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower on Thursday, on back of profit taking after the equities rose on hopes of economic recovery after prices rose on better than expected US and China figures. Oil stocks are also mostly lower after crude oil prices fell overnight. While, the gold rates fell considerably. Japan's Nikkei soared in line with the firm cues from Wall Street overnight and as exporting got lift with the weaker yen. Among the Asian markets, Singapore, Hong Kong China, Indonesia and Malaysia are in negative trend. Bucking the trend, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are trading higher.

Straits Times down by 15.71 points 0.62% to 2,524.23 ,Hang Seng dipped by 110.72 points or 0.44% to 25,009.37, Jakarta Composite shrunk by 35.43 points or 0.67% to 5,276.54, Shanghai lower 9.93 points or 0.29% to 3,394.87, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI narrowed by 13.37 points or 0.87% to 1,524.17.

On the flip side, Nikkei 225 up by 251.87 points, 1.08% to 23,499.02, Taiwan Weighted rose 39.20 points or 0.31% to 12,738.70, and KOSPI Index lifted by 30.96 points or 1.31% to 2,395.33.
