20 Aug 2011 Evaluate

Indian credit rating major, ICRA has been granted a Letter of Intent (LoI) by the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to establish a credit rating agency (CRA) in the Himalayan nation. The rating major proposes to set up a CRA in Nepal in joint venture with certain reputable Nepal-based institutions and professionals.

Recently, ICRA was all set to offer credit rating services in Sri Lanka with its wholly owned subsidiary ICRA Lanka being granted registration to function as a Credit Rating Agency (CRA) by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.

ICRA Lanka was incorporated early this year and will be offering its services in the local market there, putting into use parent ICRA’s accumulated experience in the areas of credit rating, grading and investment information. Significantly, the Lankan ventures marks yet another initiative of ICRA to establish its presence beyond Indian shores. ICRA’s Indonesian venture, PT, ICRA Indonesia, is now fully operational, having obtained its rating license in 2010.

ICRA is a leading financial/investment institution, commercial banks and financial service companies as an independent and professional investment information and credit rating agency.
