Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Tuesday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks are trading lower on Tuesday, as the investor sentiments dulled after the news that Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine study has been paused due to an unexplained illness in a study participant. Moreover, cautious outlook ahead of the release of earnings results by major US banks this week also limited equity investments. Although, positive cues from Wall Street overnight capped some losses. Japan’s Nikkei, is in positive side with the increased exporting despite stronger yen. Among the Asian markets, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, China and Malaysia are in negative trend. Bucking the trend, Japan and Singapore are in upward trend.

Taiwan Weighted down 40.29 points 0.31% to 12,915.62, Jakarta Composite decreased by 15.59 points or 0.31% to 5,077.51, KOSPI Index dipped 3.36 points or 0.14% to 2,400.37, Shanghai Composite slipped by 9.57 points or 0.28% to 3,348.90, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI narrowed by 5.35 points or 0.35% to 1,513.08.

On the flip side, Nikkei 225 up by 28.23 points, 0.12% to 23,586.92 and Straits Times rose by 2.36 points 0.09% to 2,554.78.
