NHPC gains as its board approves merger of Teesta VI hydro power project

NHPC is currently trading at Rs. 20.35, up by 0.10 points or 0.49% from its previous closing of Rs. 20.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 20.35 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 20.45 and Rs. 20.30 respectively. So far 31138 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 29.00 on 20-Jan-2020 and a 52 week low of Rs. 15.15 on 18-Mar-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 20.50 and Rs. 19.70 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 20491.87 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 70.95%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 18.70% and 10.36 % respectively.

NHPC’s board has approved the proposal to initiate the process of merger / amalgamation of Lanco Teesta Hydro Power into the company under Section 232 of the Companies Act, 2013 subject to approval of Government of India. The Board of Directors of the company in its meeting held on October 20, 2020 has approved the same.

The NHPC had bagged the 500 MW Teesta VI hydropower project under the corporate insolvency resolution process. The project will supply power at a levelised tariff of Rs 4.07 per unit and is likely to be completed in the next four years. Earlier, the Hyderabad bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) had approved the resolution plan of NHPC on July 26, 2019, for debt-ridden Lanco Teesta.
