Axis Bank aims to raise market share of its retail lending

Axis Bank is targeting to raise market share of its retail lending from the present 26 percent of the total loan book to 30 percent by 2015. As of the September quarter, the third largest private lender saw its retail loan book jump by 5 percentage points from the year-ago period.

The bank’s retail banking grew 43 percent as of the second quarter while large and mid-corporate banking grew just 15 percent, on a year-on-year basis.

The bank’s net profit for the quarter registered growth of 22.08% at Rs 1123.54 crore as compared to Rs 920.32 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011. Its total income increased by 27.18% to Rs 8280.29 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 6510.89 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
