Dish TV tumbles on getting demand notice from government for payment of Rs 4,164.05 crore

Dish TV India is currently trading at Rs. 13.95, down by 0.87 points or 5.87% from its previous closing of Rs. 14.82 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 13.35 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 14.70 and Rs. 13.35 respectively. So far 2601783 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 16.30 on 23-Dec-2020 and a 52 week low of Rs. 3.93 on 03-Apr-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 16.30 and Rs. 12.25 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2568.60 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 12.81%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 11.94% and 69.08% respectively.

Dish TV has received a demand notice from the government for payment of Rs 4,164.05 crore, which includes licence fee and interest. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) through a letter dated December 24, 2020 asked the Essel group firm to pay the said sum towards licence fee from the period from the date of issuance of DTH licence till the financial year 2018-19.

Dish TV is India's largest Direct to Home television operator using MPEG 4 DVB S2 and MPEG 2 digital compression technology.
