Hindustan Zinc, India’s largest producer of Zinc has raised zinc prices by 1.4% to Rs 115,800 a metric ton effective from August 22, 2011. However, the company lowered lead prices by 0.9% to Rs 123,200 a ton.
Earlier in July, the company had lowered zinc prices by 1.4% to Rs 120,400 a tonne.
Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company in zinc business, reported a rise of 67.79% in its net profit at Rs 1494.91 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 as compared to Rs 890.92 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company’s total Income has increased by 50.44% to Rs 3202.43 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 from Rs 2128.66 crore for similar quarter of the previous year.
