GAIL trades higher on the bourses

GAIL (India) is currently trading at Rs. 357.15, up by 2.20 points or 0.62% from its previous closing of Rs. 354.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 355.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 358.40 and Rs. 354.45 respectively. So far 13926 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 445.00 on 28-Oct-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 303.10 on 18-May-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 374.50 and Rs. 353.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 45329.04 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 57.34% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 38.84% and 2.92% respectively.

GAIL (India) is planning to balance its portfolio of gas import contracts since it has a set of long-term, short-term and spot contracts. The company aims to focus on affordable contracts from global suppliers, including the United States.

The company has 1,785 trillion cubic feet of shale gas resources in Asia out of the 6,622 trillion cubic feet of global reserves. The Turkmenistan gas pipeline was on track for supplying gas to South Asia, India being the big market. The Turkmenistan pipeline via Afghanistan and Pakistan to India is expected to supply gas by 2018.
