PNB slumps on reporting dismal Q2 earnings

Punjab National Bank (PNB) is currently trading at Rs 753.80, down by 50.55 points or 6.28% from its previous closing of Rs 804.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 797.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs 801.95 and Rs 748.55 respectively. So far 404440 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 1091.00 on 17-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 659.00 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 827.95 and Rs 748.55 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 25925.12 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 56.10% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 38.00% and 5.90% respectively.

Punjab National Bank (PNB)’s net profit second quarter ended September 30, 2012has declined by 11.57% at Rs 1065.58 crore as compared to Rs 1205.03 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. The bank’s total income has increased by 15.10% at Rs 11326.49 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 9840.87 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011.

Net interest income of the bank for the quarter under review grew by 5.7% to Rs 3,649.4 crore, against Rs 3,452.6 crore, quarter-on-quarter (Q-o-Q). The bank's Gross NPAs for the quarter stood at 4.66% against 3.34% in the previous quarter. Net NPAs of the bank also has increased to 2.69% from 1.68% (Q-o-Q).
