NTPC’s arm eyeing to sell 8 billion units of electricity in 2012-13

NTPC’s wholly owned subsidiary and the power trading arm of the company- NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), is eyeing to sell close to 8 billion units of electricity in 2012-13. The company last year had sold 8 billion units and this year it is aiming for the same. These units comprise electricity from various sources of energy, including solar, thermal and hydro.

The company currently sells power at Rs 4 per unit and would be keeping the same rates for some more time. Last year, NVVN had registered revenues of Rs 40 crore and expects to earn similar amount in this financial year as well. The company has already sold 3.5 billion units from April till now.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
